Interfit Launches New Line of Professional Modifiers
Interfit’s main objective as a company is to develop and market quality products that are relevant to all photographers, delivering high performance at compelling price points. This new line of professional modifiers does just that. We have combined all of the features that the top-level professionals require in their modifiers, and brought them to market at a price that the majority of the market can afford. This new series is comprised of a complete line of Heat-Resistant Softboxes with included Honeycomb Grids, Deep Parabolic Softboxes with included Honeycomb Grids, Parabolic Umbrellas, and a new line of Traditional Umbrellas. All of these modifiers are expertly crafted to deliver the best possible light onto your subject and are each developed to serve a different purpose.
Heat-Resistant, Professional Softboxes with Grids
Durable, Heat-Resistant Material:
Every Interfit Professional Softbox is made from heat-resistant polyester, rather than the thin nylon that is commonly used in low-quality softboxes. This heat-resistant material is rated at 1000-Watts, allowing photographers to use their softbox with virtually any strobe or continuous light source. This thicker material also results in increased durability. Thinner materials will wear out quickly and start to sag as a result of repetitive setup and tear down. Interfit Professional Softboxes will hold their shape and rigidity, even after continued daily use. The pebbled silver interior spreads light throughout the softbox, creating soft, even light from edge-to-edge.
Both the inner and outer diffusers on every Interfit Professional Softbox is treated with a specialized UV-coating. This coating eliminates magenta color cast that is common with cheap softboxes and helps prolong the life of the diffusers. When using softboxes with hot lights, such as tungsten, non-UV-coated diffusers will turn yellow, brittle and eventually breakdown and crumble. Our diffusers hold the same 1000-Watt rating as the softboxes themselves and will not breakdown when used with high-heat light sources. Along with the outer diffuser, the inner diffuser utilizes Velcro attachment points rather than traditional clasps or snaps. This speeds up setup and teardown time, as well as prevents the headache of breakage!
Included Honeycomb Grids:
Honeycomb grids (also known as egg crates or soft grids) are an invaluable tool for any photographer using a softbox. They reduce the spill of the light, creating a very soft, directional light with dramatic fall-off. Yet most manufacturers sell them separately and charge photographers nearly as much as, if not more than, the softbox itself. Every Interfit Professional softbox includes a honeycomb grid at no additional charge. This gives photographers immense control over their light, without requiring them to make expensive additional purchases.
Shapes and Sizes:
There are 13 different Interfit Professional Softboxes to choose from, ranging from a 24” square up to an 84” octabox. Different sizes and shapes are required for different types of photography, and to achieve different looks. Our wide range of shapes and sizes provides lighting solutions for virtually every scenario.
Deep Parabolic Softboxes With Grids
The deep parabolic shape of these modifiers creates a unique quality of light and the included honeycomb grids provide a level of control that was previously unattainable.
The main difference between a traditional softbox and these softboxes is the parabolic shape. Whereas a traditional softbox is meant to spread the light as wide as possible, the purpose of a parabolic softbox is to concentrate the light into a broad, focused column of light. Using the included diffusers, users are still able to achieve the soft quality of light that they get from a softbox, but with increased directional definition.
Lightweight, Highly-Reflective Material:
The Interfit Deep Parabolic Softboxes utilize a lightweight, umbrella-like material in order to minimize the stress of the extruding softbox on the light mount. This highly-reflective silver interior maximizes light output for increased brightness.
UV-Coated Diffusers with 2-Stop Center:
Both the inner and outer diffusers on every Interfit Deep Parabolic Softbox are treated with a specialized UV-coating. This coating eliminates magenta color cast that is common with cheap softboxes and helps prolong the life of the diffusers. In order to maximize softness of the light, the inner diffusers are equipped with a double-thickness, 2-stop central diffusion. This helps to eliminate any hotspot and spread the light evenly throughout the softbox.
Included Honeycomb Grids:
Honeycomb grids (also known as egg crates or soft grids) are an invaluable tool for any photographer who is using a softbox. They reduce the spill of the light, creating a very soft, directional light with dramatic fall-off. Parabolic softboxes, by nature, already limit the spill, so other manufacturers neglect to provide a grid for their parabolic softboxes. The problem, however, is that when using both diffusers for an ultra-soft look, we lose some control over that direction. Interfit has addressed this issue. Every Interfit Deep Parabolic softbox includes a honeycomb grid. This enables photographers to utilize both diffusers for very soft light, and control the spill of their light, allowing them to create extremely soft images with dramatic depth.
Sizes and Pricing:
There are three different sizes in our line of Deep Parabolic Softboxes, 48”, 60”, and 72”. Being in line with our company objective and always striving to provide the best value to our customers, these three modifiers are roughly half the price of their competitors, with the added benefit of an included honeycomb grid.
The main difference between a traditional umbrella and these umbrellas is the parabolic shape. Where traditional umbrellas are meant to spread the light as wide as possible, the purpose of a parabolic umbrella is to concentrate the light into a broad, focused column, whilst limiting the light spill. Adjusting the distance of the umbrella from the light source allows you to focus the throw of light even further, giving even greater control.
Fiberglass rods make up the skeleton of the deep parabolic umbrellas. Using fiberglass instead of traditional aluminum makes the umbrella much lighter (an important feature when on location). These fiberglass rods are also more forgiving than aluminum, and will flex under pressure rather than bend or break, minimizing damage should your light happen to fall.
Shower cap diffusers are available for each size, and fit over the end of the umbrellas. Using these diffusers produces a similar, soft light quality to a softbox. These diffusers cut down on specularity, resulting in softer skin tones, decreased contrast from highlights to shadows, and increased light spread for a wider throw. When used with the translucent parabolic umbrella, the diffuser creates an even, multi-directional light that is useful for increasing ambient exposure in a dark room.
Sizes and Surfaces:
There are three different sizes (41”, 51”, and 65”) and three different surfaces (silver, white, and translucent), each with its’ own unique characteristics and purposes
The main difference between this line of umbrellas and our new line of Parabolic Umbrellas is the shape. Traditional umbrellas are designed to create a very wide throw of light, whereas parabolic umbrellas create a more defined direction. Traditional umbrellas are great for use as a key light when you need to create even light across large areas.
These traditional umbrellas are available in three different sizes (36”, 43”, 60”) each with its’ own unique characteristics and purposes.
These umbrellas are available in four different reflective surfaces:
- Silver – This highly-reflective material produces a specular light quality that creates stronger definition in shadows. Traditionally used as a main light in high-contrast portraiture such as athletic/hero-style shoots.
- White – Much less specular than silver, white umbrellas create a softer, more gentle feel to the image. The soft, muted contrast is perfect for weddings and bridal portraiture, infant portraits and fashion.
- Translucent – Creates a soft, diffused light that spreads in all directions, leading to increased ambient light in small studios. Typically used in portraiture as a fill or accent light.
- Translucent/Silver Combo – This is a translucent umbrella with a removable silver backing. This gives users the flexibility to use either surface.
Tri-fold umbrella frames fold down to a third of their normal size, making them much more compact. These umbrellas are excellent companions for carry-on airline travel without sacrificing surface area. Our Tri-Fold umbrellas are available in silver, white, or translucent.
The Umbrella Softbox combines the soft, wrapping light qualities of a diffused softbox with the quick setup time of a conventional umbrella. Photographers often turn to an umbrella softbox when they want the light quality of an octabox, but also need the fast setup time and low travel profile of an umbrella.
